Broadfield Lodge
Broadfield Lodge is a 45 acre owner operated boutique farm.
It is located 20 minutes south of Christchurch.
The owners are Dave and Adrienne Shadbolt. Dave has been running the property since 1987. He has extensive experience working on equine farms throughout the world.
They provide a high quality personalised service and take care of your horse as if it were their own.
Services
Foaling
Our foaling paddock is next to our home. We use foaling alarms and the mares are also regularly checked.
We have developed a close association with a number of veterinary practices who are willing to assist should the need arise.
We carry out regular farrier assessments to ensure that corrective treatment can be undertaken in time to ensure that the foal develops to its full potential.
Yearling Preparation
Dave has been a leading preparer of yearlings since 1988.
“Our aim is to get every horse to the sales the best that it can be”.
We carry out an individual feeding and exercise programmes for each horse.
We have 30 stables and a large round yard where the horses are loose lunged on sand.
Breeding
We act as a semen base with access to chilled semen from Australia and New Zealand. We have been recipients of the “Broodmare Base of the Year” awarded by the Standardbred Breeders Association for quality of service.
Weaning
A weaning and early education programme is available on an individual basis.
Boarding
We board a small number of permanent mares and their offspring with the foals being developed and aimed towards the yearling sales.
